The Anchorage History
The Anchorage is located in Shropshire, at the head of the Clun Valley, and at the intersection of the counties of Powys, (Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire) and Shropshire. It is close to the edge of common land stretching from the England/Wales border to the Welsh coast, and has easy access to many miles of bridleways. The property is within an officially designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the upland areas being "used mainly for sheep pasture".
The Adams family is well known in Shropshire, having farmed in the area for generations.
Richard Adams moved to The Anchorage in 1995 when the family sold Black Mountain farm. Since then, many changes have been made at The Anchorage, improving the buildings and the land. There has also been much joyous Family News.
Stable Project
In
2000 an American style Barn system was built with twelve 10' x 12' stables,
complete with water and electric supply.
This provided space for Richard to expand his business into breaking, training and
schooling horses and ponies.
Later, walled yards were added outside the barn.
